Is Basic Programming That Hard?

I've been a hobbyist programmer for much of my life. It's come in handy sometimes, and I like to follow tutorials to keep my skills sharp as technology changes.

This time I'm doing boot.dev because it's specifically about back-end tech and I detest doing front-end or UI anything (Sorry, Odin Project). I'm following their Python/Golang path. I'm already an intermediate/advanced Python programmer, so their early course on learning Python was a refresher for me.

After finishing the first block of lessons, it gave me stats about completion that surprised me. Only 36.77% of members complete their basic (but good) Python course.

Now, I don't think boot.dev is only counting paid members for this stat. So there is going to be a proportion of the user base that didn't participate in the gamification part of their program. I also know some programmers dip into the platform just to take a more advanced course, so they wouldn't take such a basic programming course.

I'd love to see this stat limited to people who have paid into the program at least once, just for comparison. Because if the completion rate IS limited to that set, then even the basics are more complicated to the general public than I expected.
