Harry's Garden

Early waking thoughts

I've struggled a long time with insomnia, but the past couple of months, since the move to Canada, have really helped with the regularity of my sleep. Today I woke up naturally at 4:30 a.m. and felt really fresh.

I got a lot of things done so far today, including:

I was about to pick up the weights before I got pinged to eat some breakfast and coffee. And I have time to do some writing and research before the work day starts.

I really should wake up this early more often. My evenings are usually crammed with social obligations and chores. I used to steal time back in the evening, but I think I'm going to start stealing it in the morning instead.

Speaking of the weights, I'm thinking about switching them out to go back to qi gong. After moving those heavy plates three times last year, I have no desire to move them again. With qi gong, stretching, yoga, etc., there is a lot more variety than the same 18 movements I was doing over and over again with the weights.

Don't get me wrong, I like the set. But I think my body needs something else at this time. Let me see how early morning Harry handles doing qi gong again. Time to do a review of Ba Duan Jin.
